| |
| Located
2.5 kilometers east of the Shanghai Plant, the Xicen Plant conducts
vertically integrated production--that is, all processes from
machining of high-precision parts to final assembly--of fan motors,
which it ships to customers around the world. The second factory
was completed in October 2001 and the following month began
manufacturing measuring components for the global market. |

| DC and AC Fan Motors |
Measuring Components |
|
Fan motors are used to cool the inside
of PCs and other office automation (OA) equipment and
other machinery by directing heat outside. Minebea manufactures
DC and AC axial fan motors using bearings produced in-house.
DC fan motors are used primarily in PCs and other OA equipment,
electronic game machines and communications equipment,
while applications for AC fan motors include industrial
equipment.
<Principal Applications>
PCs, servers, printers, copy machines, facsimiles, projectors,

Strain Gauges
Strain gauges consist of a very fine metallic foil etched
in a grid pattern and are produced using photolithography
masking techniques. Strain gauges are bonded to devices
and used to measure the strain, or amount of deformation
of devices when weight or force is applied. Load
Cells
Load cells use strain gauges to convert weight and force
into electrical output. Load cells are used to display,
record and control weight and force for various types
of measuring equipment. <Principal
Applications>
