| Major Awards
and Honors of Shanghai Minebea |
Shanghai Minebea, ever since its establishment, has been receiving
awards for export contribution every year from the municipal
authorities. These honors include Shanghai Municipal Award for
Export Contribution granted by the People's Government of Shanghai;
and Bronze Award for Top 100 Exporters for Year 2001 granted
by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation. Since 1998, Minebea has been honored every year
as the Shanghai A+A Grade Foreign Invested Enterprise jointly
by the municipal authorities for foreign economic relation and
trade, foreign investment, and foreign investment association.

In addition, Shanghai Minebea has been rated highly by
Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Agency every
year as its Yearly Advanced Unit. In 1999, the domestic
sewerage treatment facilities of Minebea were commended
as the Top 10 Treatment Facilities of Huangpu River Upper
Region for the year 1998.
On June 5, 2003, the World Environmental Day, which happened
to be the 30th anniversary of Shanghai Municipal Environmental
Protection Agency, Shanghai Minebea was selected as one
of the Top 8 Enterprises by the agency for its environmental
performance. |

In July 2003, the second factory of the Xicen Plant was
selected by the State Environmental Protection Administration
as one of the 100 Environmentally Excellent Enterprises.
Only 77 enterprises were then short-listed including Minebea,
the only 100% foreign-owned firm from Shanghai. |

Since 1993, Minebea Group has received three times in
succession the Stratospheric Ozon Protection Award from
the U.S. EPA. These awards were granted to Minebea in
recognition of its complete elimination of specified CFCs
and ethane from all production processes ahead of other
bearing makers in the world. EPA also highly rated Minebea's
contribution to encourage total elimination of specified
CFCs and ethane by other manufacturers in the industry
worldwide through actively disclosing proprietary water-based
washing technology. |

In as early as 1999, Shanghai Minebea was selected as
AA Category Industrial Producer (listed No. 174) by the
municipal customs authority, the Best Managed Enterprise
by the municipal Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine
Bureau, the Category A Reliable Enterprise jointly by
the municipal State Taxation Bureau and Local Taxation
Bureau, and Category A Export Exchange Recovery Enterprise
by the municipal Commission of Foreign Exchange Control. |

The Shanghai City Government awarded a testimonial to Mr. S. Fujisawa on September 25 (Thu), 2003. Mr. Goro Ogino, the former President of Minebea, was granted the Magnolia Gold Award in 1998. |

In May 2004, the current President of Shanghai Minebea,
Mr. Susumu Fujisawa received from Shanghai Municipal Environmental
Protection Agency the honor of Shanghai Municipal Advanced
Individual for Environmental Protection for Year 2002
– 2003, which was designed as an honorable title to be
granted in recognition of the outstanding performance
and contribution to environmental protection. |
